The flag of Nepal
The national flag of Nepal (Nepali: नेपालको झण्डा) is the world's only
national flag that is non-quadrilateral in shape. The flag is a
simplified combination of two single pennons, the vexilogical word for
a pennant.

Background:
In 1951, the Nepalese monarch ended the century-old system of rule by
hereditary premiers and instituted a cabinet system of government.
The flag of Nepal is the only national flag which is not rectangular,
being based upon two separate pennants which belonged to rival
branches of the Rana dynasty, which formerly ruled the country.
Initially the sun and moon in the National flag of Nepal had human
faces, but they were removed when the flag was updated in 1962. The
flag is said to express the hope that Nepal will endure as long as the
sun and the moon exist.
The flag of Nepal is composed of red with a blue border around the
unique shape of two overlapping right triangles; the smaller, upper
triangle bears a white stylized moon and the larger, lower triangle
bears a white 12-pointed sun.
