The flag of India
The National Flag of India is a horizontal rectangular tricolour of
deep saffron, white and India green; with the Ashoka Chakra, a
24-spoke wheel, in blue at its centre.
2 The National Flag of India shall be made of hand spun and hand
woven wool/cotton/silk khadi bunting.
1.3 The National Flag shall be rectangular in shape. The ratio of the
length to the height (width) of the Flag shall be 3:2.

The National Flag of India was adopted in its present form during an
ad hoc meeting of the Constituent Assembly held on the 22 July 1947,
twenty-four days before India's independence from the British on 15
August 1947.

Background:
Aryan tribes from the northwest infiltrated onto the Indian
subcontinent about 1500 B.C.; their merger with the earlier Dravidian
inhabitants created the classical Indian culture.
The National Flag of India was adopted in its present form during an
ad hoc meeting of the Constituent Assembly held on the 22nd of July
1947, a few days before India's independence from the British on the
15th of August 1947.
The Flag of India was officially adopted on July 22, 1947, on the eve
of the partision of the Indian sub-continent into India and Pakistan.
The flag was based upon the design of the flag of the Indian National
Congress.
THE NATIONAL FLAG OF INDIA is in tricolour ( TIRANGA) of deep
saffron (Kesari) at the top, white in the middle and dark green at the
bottom in equal proportions.
