The adoption of a state Flag of Connecticut was without controversy or
fanfare.
On May 29, 1895, Governor O. William Coffin introduced the first
proposal for the Flag of Connecticut to the Connecticut General
Assembly.
The flag of Connecticut consists of a white shield with three
grapevines (each bearing three bunches of purple grapes) on an field
of azure blue. The banner below the shield reads "Qui Transtulit
Sustinet," ("He who transplanted sustains us") the state's motto.
The flag of Connecticut has the following colors in it, blue, yellow,
white and purple. The flag of Connecticut has a blue background.
