The flag of Bhutan
The national flag of Bhutan is one of the national symbols of the
Himalayan Kingdom of Bhutan. The flag is based upon the tradition of
the Drukpa lineage of Tibetan Buddhism and features Druk, the Thunder
Dragon of Bhutanese mythology.

Background:
In 1865, Britain and Bhutan signed the Treaty of Sinchulu, under which
Bhutan would receive an annual subsidy in exchange for ceding some
border land to British India.
The national flag of Bhutan consists of a white dragon over a yellow
and orange background. The flag is divided diagonally from the lower
hoist side corner, making two triangles. The upper triangle is yellow
and the lower triangle is orange.
